Rava Upma | Suji Upma |Semolina Upma

How to make Rava Upma |Suji Upma|Semolina Upma



Ingredients :



   1)      1 tbsp oil+1 tbsp ghee
   2)       Boiled Water 4 cups  
   3)      Rava(suji,semolina) 300 gms
   4)      Green chilly 4 (cut into pieces)
   5)      Curry leaves 10
   6)      Lemon juice half tsp
   7)      Onion 1 big sized chopped finely
   8)      Tomato 1 small chopped finely 
   9)      1 small carrot grated (you can add vegetables of your                 choice like green peas, French beans etc.)
  10)   Mustard seeds 1 tbsp
  11)   Asafoetida half tsp  
  12)   Turmeric powder 1 tsp 
  13)   Split black gram(urad dal) 2 tbsp
  14)   Sugar 1 tsp
  15)   Salt as per taste
  16)   Coriander leaves for garnishing

Method: 


   1)      Heat one tbsp. oil + 1 tbsp of ghee in a pan. Then add split black grams and sauté until golden brown.
  2)      Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add curry leaves and let them brown a little bit. Then add onion, asafoetida, turmeric powder, mix everything well.Close the lid till it becomes golden brown.
   3)      Open the lid after 2 mins, now add green chilly, tomato and carrot, mix everything well. Now close the lid and let it cook for 5 minutes. (Meanwhile put 4 cups of water to boil.)
  4)      Open the lid after 5 minutes, add semolina now, mix everything and roast the semolina until golden brown. Close the lid for 2 minutes.

( Tip: If you are using already roasted semolina, then you can directly add boiled water to it, no need to roast again).

   5)      After 2 minutes open the lid and add salt, sugar mix everything nicely. Now add the boiled water to it,lemon juice mix everything well. Close the lid and let it steam for 3-4 minutes.
  6)      Now open the lid after 3-4 minutes, mix everything nicely. You should get a nice thick consistency. If you are happy with the consistency of upma now, turn off the gas. Rava(Suji) Upma is now ready.

    Garnish it with coriander leaves and server hot.







सामग्री:
१) १ चमच तेल + १ चमच घी
२) पानी ४ गिलास उबाला हुआ
३) रवा या सूजी पाव किलो
४) हरी मिर्च ४ , दो टुकड़ो मैं काट लीजिये
५) कड़ीपत्ता १०
६) लिम्बु का रस आधा चमच
७) प्याज एक बड़ा बारीक कटा हुआ
८) टमाटर एक छोटा बारीक कटा हुआ
९) गाजर एक छोटा कदूकस किया हुआ (आप अपने पसंद की कोई भी सब्जी का इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं)
१०) राइ १ चमच
११) हींग आधा चमच
१२) हल्दी पाउडर आधा चमच
१३) उड़द दाल २ चमच
१४) चीनी १ छोटा  चमच
१५) नमक स्वादनुसार
१६) धनिये के पत्ते  गार्निश करने के लिए १ चमच
तरीका:

१) सबसे पहले पैन मैं एक चमच तेल और एक चमच घी अच्छेसे गरम कर ले.फिर इसमें उड़द दाल डाले और गोल्डन ब्राउन होने तक भून लीजिये.

२) फिर इसमें राइ डालकर उसे पकने दे. अब कड़ी पत्ते डाले और इनको थोड़ा पकने दे.फिर इसमें प्याज,हींग,हल्दी पाउडर डालकर अछेसे मिक्स करले.ढक्कन बंध  कर ले और प्याज को गोल्डन ब्राउन होने तक पकाइये .

३)२ मिनट बाद ढक्कन खोलिये,और हरी मिर्च, टमाटर और गाजर डालकर अच्छी तरह से मिक्स करले और ढक्कन बंध करके ५ मिनट के लिए पकाये .( आप अपने पसंद की कोई भी सब्जिया इस्तेमाल कर सकते हैं)

४) अब ५ मिनट  बाद  ढक्कन खोलिये और सूजी को इसमें डालके अच्छेसे गोल्डन ब्राउन होने तक  भून ले.२ मिनट के लिए ढक्कन बंध करले.

५) अब ढक्कन खोलिये चीनी और नमक मिलाकर अच्छेसे मिक्स करले.लिम्बु का जूस डाले और मिक्स करे .फिर इसमे उबाला हुआ पानी डालिये ,और ५ मिनट ढक्कन बंध करके स्टीम होने दे.

६) ४-५ मिनट बाद ढक्कन खोलिये और सब कुछ अच्छी तरह से  मिलाइये ,आपको अच्छी घाडी (थिक) कंसिस्टेंसी मिलनी चाहिए. अब गैस बंध कर दीजिये. सूजी उपमा तैयार हैं.

इसे धनिये के पत्तो के साथ गार्निश करे और गरमा गरम  परोसे.

The answer is very simple make Palak wadis/Spinach Cubes out of this very beneficial vegetable. It is very tasty, yummy dish and kids will eat this in no time.

You will need:

Ingredients for Palak Wadi/Spinach Cubes Recipe

Fresh spinach leaves chopped 2 cups
Gram flour (besan) 1 cup
Chilly powder 2 table spoon
Onion 1 big
Ginger, garlic paste 2 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
Oil 2 tablespoons
Sesame seeds    1/2 teaspoon
Asafoetida a pinch
Mustard seeds  1/2 teaspoon


Method:

Step 1:
Wash the spinach leaves nicely and chop them up finely and keep it aside.
Step 2:
Take a pan and add oil, let it heat up nicely. Add mustard seeds and let them splutter, then add turmeric powder, a pinch of asafoetida, add ginger garlic paste and sauté it nicely. Then add finely chopped onion and sauté till golden brown.

Step 3:
Add spinach leaves and mix everything nicely, cover the pan with a lid for 4-5 minutes .Then add gram flour little by little and keep mixing it well .Add sufficient water and salt .Keep mixing it for 3-4 minutes until a smooth ball is formed, turn of the gas. Your batter is ready.

Step 4:
Take a plate and grease it with oil.
Pour the batter into the greased plate that is at least one and half inches deep.
Keep it outside below fan for fifteen to twenty minutes or till firm. You can keep it in fridge too just let it cool a little before keeping it in fridge.

Step 5:
Check by inserting a skewer into the mixture and if it comes out clean, then it is firm. Cut it into one-inch diamonds or whichever shape you prefer.

Step 6:
Coat the cut pieces with sesame seeds, then heat oil in a small non-stick pan and add the cubes/wadis and shallow fry them until golden brown. Serve immediately.

Before sharing the recipe i would like to explain how i came up with it.Well one fine morning i as well as my family was in a mood to eat something delicious and tasty for breakfast.So i decided to cook up something new.All i had was bread and potato vegetable from the night before . Well i decided i will make something new out of this.

So i decided to see for more ingredients,and to my luck i found all the items  available at home which i needed. .I know it feels so good when you get something you want. Hehehe ... 

Well moving on back to the recipe. I somewhere saw on the internet once a photo of open pizza ,so then it striked to me that i will also make open bread sandwich and impress my family members with my new invention.And guess what they loved it.This recipe is so good and easy to make and the main thing it taste delicious.

I made this Open Bread Sandwich Recipe with the potato vegetable i already had,so it saved me time to make it.If you don't have it ready then no need to worry i will show you how to make that.
Tip: If you are in a  hurry in the morning then you can just boil the potatoes one day before,so that you only have to make the stuffing and place it on bread.Or else you can even use already made vegetable.

Open Bread Sandwich Recipe

Ingredients

Ingredients for Open Bread Sandwich Recipe


4-5 Boiled Potatoes
Curry leaves 7-8
Onion 1 medium finely chopped
Ginger half cube grated
Turmeric half teaspoon
Coriander leaves 2 tablespoon
Oil 3 tablespoon
Green chillies 4-5 (you can add more or less as per you like)
Salt to taste
Tomato sauce 4-5 tablespoon
Mozzarella cheese grated half bowl
Sesame seeds 4-5 tablespoon
Brown bread 5-6 cut in the shape of triangles


Method

For Stuffing :

Stuffing Ingredients for Open Bread Sandwich Recipe

Step 1 :
            Cut the boiled potatoes in small cubes and keep aside.

Step 2: 
            In a pan add 3 tablespoon of oil and let it heat up nicely.Then add curry leaves and let them splutter.Then add grated ginger, and saute for some time. Add chopped onions ,green chillies and saute it till they turn golden brown.

Step 3:
           Add the diced potatoes and mix nicely,add half teaspoon of turmeric powder,salt to taste and mix everything nicely.Cover the pan with lid and let it steam for about two minutes.

Step 4:
          After two minutes take the lid off, your stuffing is ready , now turn off the gas and add 2 tablespoon of finely chopped coriander leaves and mix everything nicely.

Step 5:
         Now smash the stuffing with the help of spoon so that it becomes  like a paste so that it will be easy to spread on bread.

Step 6:
         Take one triangle of brown bread.Spread tomato sauce on it evenly.Then add one-two tablespoon of stuffing and spread it nicely so that it covers the entire bread.

Step 7:
         Similarly do this for all the bread slices and keep it aside.

Step 8:
         Now sprinkle some sesame seeds on some bread slices and tap them a little so that they stick on the stuffing

Step 9 :
         You can sprinkle sesame seeds on all the bread slices or you can even sprinkle grated mozzarella cheese on some of them. Choice is yours.Both ways taste great.

Step 10 :
          Take a pan and add 1 tablespoon of butter.Let it melt then carefully place all the bread slices on the pan.Cover the pan with lid for 2-3 minutes.

Step 11:
         The bread slices with cheese will be ready when the cheese melt.You don't have to turn them.

Step 12:
         The bread slices with sesame seeds need to be turned after 2-3 minutes and let the other side cooked for 2-3 minutes until you hear spluttering of sesame seeds.Then take them out of the pan.

That's it your Open Bread Sandwiches are ready, garnish with coariander leaves and Serve them with sauce,chutney or any way you like. Enjoy with your family and friends.
